The City and CUPE 973 began bargaining on January 9, 2020 and continued negotiations with both sides making progress up until March 13, 2020 when the impacts of the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic began to impact City operations. Due to these impacts, the bargaining committees agreed to pause collective bargaining.
COVID-19 continued to affect the ability to bargain, but also impacted our City operations for both union and non-union staff. Consensus was reached that the existing content of the respective agreement would be extended for two (2) more years.
